Megabyte (SI, 10⁶ bytes)
The megabyte (MB), under the SI decimal definition, equals exactly 1,000,000 bytes (10⁶ bytes). It is used by storage manufacturers and network engineers to express data quantities in base-10 terms, in contrast to the binary mebibyte (MiB) of 1,048,576 bytes. The decimal megabyte is standard in hard drive capacity labeling and data rate specifications.
